The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles swept the Summit League Player of the Year awards, with Dominique Morrison and Kevi Luper being named the league's male and female player of the year Thursday.
This is Luper's third consecutive player of the year award, after leading the league in both scoring (23.9 ppg) and steals (3.9 spg) leading the team to a 20-9 record – including a 14-4 conference run. Luper was just one of two ORU women to earn conference honors, with forward Bernadett Balla being named to the All-Newcomer team.
Morrsion's award marks the first player of the year award for the Golden Eagles since 2006-2007 season. The senior ranks second in the league in scoring with 22.2 points per game, scoring at least 20 points in 12 of 20 league games this season. In addition to his award, coach Scott Sutton was named the Summit League Coach of the Year, while Steven Roundtree was named the Sixth Man of the Year.
The Summit League tournament will begin Saturday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with the women taking on Western Illinois at 2:30 p.m. and the men taking on IPFW at 6 p.m.
