Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin honors a Green Country police officer. Grove Officer Dave Sergeant received a commendation from the governor, after he rushed into a burning home and saved two elderly people in November.

The Grove Sun newspaper talked to him after the rescue.

"I went in.  They told me to get out.  The elderly gentleman really couldn't move very well.  I was able to grab him and take him out to the garage area and get them out to safety," said Officer Dave Sergeant.

Sergeant has been with Grove Police Department for four years.
