Muskogee Police along with the U.S. Secret Service took down several suspects in a wide-spread check fraud scheme.

The group was investigated for several weeks before the arrests were made in Muskogee during a surveillance operation Friday afternoon.

The suspect at the center of the case is a Tulsa woman Taisha O'Brien, 25. According to arrest records, O'Brien has been sent to jail twice.

She's been convicted of forgery and counterfeiting charges 18 times since 2007.

O'Brien was booked into the Muskogee County Jail under fraud and burglary complaints. The other subjects were interviewed and released.

Investigators say the check fraud operation spanned from Oklahoma City to Tulsa to Muskogee and surrounding areas. They say victims lost thousands of dollars to the swindlers.

Muskogee Police expect more charges to follow as the investigation continues.
