A poor shooting night from the Tulsa Golden Hurricane sent them to a 54-48 loss at the hands of the Central Florida Knights, TU's fourth conference loss of the season.
The Golden Hurricane managed to hit just 20 of its 68 field goal attempts, two-of-16 from three-point range, with just one player turning in a double-figure scoring total on the night. Despite the poor shooting, however, Tulsa managed to keep the game close late.
After trailing by nine less than three minutes into the second half, but over the next 10 minutes, Tulsa outscored UFC 11-6 to cut the lead to just 40-36 with eight minutes to play.
That lead held until the closing minutes of the game, with TU trailing 50-46 with two minutes left on the clock, but Central Florida kept pace over the final two minutes and closed out the game.
Gevenia Carter finished with a game-high 14 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Kaylia Keough turned in 13 points and Aisha Patrick recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
Taleya Mayberry led the charge for the Golden Hurricane, scoring 13 points and six rebounds, but shot just five-of-19 from the floor. Taylor Hooker turned in seven points for Tulsa, but shot three-of-13 on the evening.
Tulsa will take three days off before taking on the Houston Cougars at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Reynolds Center.
