Parent Robbed Outside Tulsa Elementary School Prompts Lockdown

A woman waiting to pick up her child at Lanier Elementary was robbed at gunpoint Monday, prompting the school to go on lockdown for a short while.

Tulsa Police say the woman was at the school, located at 17th and Harvard, around 2:30 p.m. when a man approached her and asked for the time.

The man then left but returned, this time demanding the woman give up her purse. Police say the victim resisted at first but quickly complied when the suspect pointed to a gun and asked, "Do you see this?"

Children were on the playground when the robbery occurred and the school quickly went on lockdown until it was determined the man was gone.

Police don't have a very detailed description of the robber.
