Tulsa Police arrested a man for kidnapping a woman and assaulting her with a hammer. Bradley O'Neal Bagby, 42, was taken into custody and his victim freed Saturday night.
Police learned of the abduction when the woman's family called for help at 9 p.m., according to Sergeant August Terbrock of the Tulsa Police Department. Officers were told the woman's boyfriend took her against her will from the Stonegate Village Apartments at 7200 South 87th East Avenue.
Family members said Bagby beat the woman with a hammer and forced her to leave with him in her car. They gave officers three addresses where they believed Bagby might have taken the kidnapping victim.
An officer en route to one of the locations saw the woman's car and pulled it over at 46 Street North and Lewis Avenue. Bagby was arrested, and the woman was taken to be treated for her injuries. She is expected to be ok.
Terbrock told News On 6 that police were very fortunate to rescue the woman while she was still in the car, saying that things could have gotten much worse if she had been taken to a house. Bagby was arrested about 15 minutes after police had the information they needed, he said.
Bradley O'Neal Bagby is in Tulsa County Jail on a $50,000 bond, charged with kidnapping (after former conviction of a felony) and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Bagby has a criminal record going back to 1990 that includes drug, assault and burglary charges.
