Green Country Websites Join National SOPA Protest

Tulsa-based gaming website "Team Covenant" joined the protest against two bills aimed at curbing illegal downloads and streams of copyrighted movies and TV shows.

Wikipedia and Reddit are among the websites that went dark Wednesday to protest anti-piracy legislation they say amounts to censorship.

Tulsa-based gaming website Team Covenant also joined the protest against two bills aimed at curbing illegal downloads and streams of copyrighted movies and TV shows.

Creator Steven Wooley says online piracy is a real problem, but worries the proposed legislation could be used to target legitimate sites like his where users share content.

"It's a huge threat, just to be able to shut anything down that could have issues and force the burden of proof on those sites," Wooley said. "It doesn't only hurt the people who own the sites but anyone using those sites."

The websites that went dark in Wednesday's protest will be back online at midnight.
