A west Tulsa home was destroyed by fire that may have been caused by a heating appliance. AlertTulsa County Sheriff's Office deputies who saw smoke in the area called it in just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Sand Springs Fire Department responded to the burning house in the 1500 block of South 74th West Avenue. Crews got to the house quickly, but it was already fully engulfed in flames.
Little could be saved.
"We were able to ascertain that the occupant was not at the home, so at this time we believe no injuries were involved," said Deputy Chief Justin Hall of the Sand Springs Fire Department.
Though the cause of the fire was still under investigation, Hall said they believe it was caused by some kind of heater.
"Need to make sure that if you're heating your home as the cold weather finally approaches and finally gets here, that you're being safe with your heating appliance and keeping things out of the way that might potentially cause a fire," he said.
A truck parked in the drive way was also lost to fire.
