Men and women aren't the only ones who race into the face of danger when disaster strikes. Oklahoma has a special team of dogs that performs search and rescue.
The fire department pays for the dogs, but it's up to the individual handler to foot the rest of the bill.
And, that's why dog-lovers in Green Country opened their wallets at a silent auction today.

The Mid-Continent Kennel Club is raising money to help firefighters on Oklahoma's Task Force One.
"The members have been extremely generous this year," Lori Finlayson of the Mid-Continent Kennel club said. "We've got a big turnout to help these search and rescue dogs. Especially in light of Joplin recently and the things that these dogs do we really want to help them to be able to offset those costs."
The kennel club is hoping they raised more than one-thousand dollars at today's auction.
