Eastern Oklahoma's First Snowfall Of 2012 Covers Everything But Roads

Most of eastern Oklahoma woke up Thursday morning to a dusting of snow on the ground. 

A half an inch to an inch of snow covered the ground from Stillwater to Miami. 

Meanwhile, almost all roads and highways are clear. In some parts of northeastern Oklahoma, Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews have been putting down a sand-salt mixture on bridges and overpasses. 

More than a thousand Green Country residents lost power as strong winds blew through the area Wednesday evening.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma reported at least 1,300 customers in Rogers and Tulsa Counties were in the dark.  A failure in a transmission line at the PSO plant in Oologah was to blame, the company said.

The outage began at about 8:45 p.m. and affected the whole town of Oologah including most of the exterior lighting at the power plant itself. 

The repair crew turned the power back on at about 3:45 a.m.

There are no reports of any outages Thursday morning.
