Tulsa Construction Detour To Narrow Riverside Next Week

Riverside Parkway will be narrowed by a construction project in south Tulsa starting Monday. That's when work begins to widen East 61st Street between Riverside and Peoria Avenue.

The two inside lanes of Riverside – one northbound and one southbound – will be closed for the removal of the median and construction of a detour, according to a release from the City of Tulsa. The lane closures are expected to last a week, until Monday, January 16, when traffic will be switched to the detour.

The $11 million project is funded by the 2006 Third Penny Sales Tax and is being done by Becco Contractors. It includes street widening, storm drainage and sewer improvements.

Completion is scheduled for May, 2013.
