The Tulsa 66ers jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 107-86 win over the Texas Legends Thursday, avoiding a three-game losing streak in the process.
Tulsa took a 16-4 advantage, including six from ORU alum Marcus Lewis, to take a big lead in the opening minutes of the game. The 66ers continued to pour it on, and ended the first quarter with a commanding 31-17 lead, with Lewis coming away with 10 points.
The 66ers continued to build their lead in the second quarter, including a quick seven at the six-minute mark to increase their lead to 49-21. Tulsa's offense continued to roll as the quarter closed, and went into the locker room at half with a 65-41 lead.
Tulsa eased its scoring in the second half, managing just 42 points in the closing 24 minutes, but managed to hold the Legends to 45.
Lewis slowed down after the first quarter, finishing the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds, with fellow former Golden Eagle Larry Owens turning in 18 points and 10 boards.
The 66ers will continue their home stand at 7 p.m. Saturday against the Maine Red Claws.
