Man Pleads Guilty In May 2011 Fatal Owasso Highway Crash

A Tulsa man entered a blind plea to a charge of first degree manslaughter in a Tulsa County courtroom Wednesday in connection with a May 20, 2011 fatality crash in Owasso.

A Tulsa man entered a blind plea to a charge of first degree manslaughter in a Tulsa County courtroom Wednesday in connection with a May 20, 2011 fatality crash in Owasso.

Owasso Police say Juan Ochoa-Ruiz was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 169 at 76th Street North when he struck a southbound motorcycle.

The motorcycle rider, Iain Bell, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the early morning crash, police say Ruiz was driving with the truck's headlights turned off.

Sentencing for Ruiz was set for February 23, 2012.
