It only takes a few minutes to lose your entire home to a fire. That's why the Tulsa Fire Department is showing just how dangerous live Christmas trees can be, especially now when they're dry.

The Fire Department says it only takes 10 seconds for the flames to reach the ceiling!

"The heat and the smoke we showed here today, that's with no interior furnishings. That's just concrete walls. All that heat came from the tree and we just want to encourage people that if your tree is more than two weeks old you need to go ahead and take it down and get it out of the house and get it disposed of properly," Stan May, with the Tulsa Fire Department, said.

The Fire Department says don't put your old tree the side of your house. Firefighters say get it to the curb and away from anything flammable.
