JONESBORO, Arkansas -- The Golden Hurricane's road woes continued Saturday, as Tulsa fell behind early against Arkansas State and couldn't come back, losing 80-70 on the road.
Tulsa (2-5) played it close, holding a 24-23 lead with just seven minutes remaining, but that's when the wheels fell off.
The Red Wolves (3-5) then rattled off a 15-2 lead, including five from Quinishia McDowell to head into halftime with a 38-26 advantage.
TU trailed 46-34 at the 14:45 mark, but rattled off a 14-3 run, including the final eight from Jessica McQuinn, over the next three minutes to cut the deficit to one point. The lead stayed at one-point, but the Red Wolves doubled-up on the Golden Hurricane in the closing 5:20 to come away with a 10-point win.
The Golden Hurricane will take a week off before getting back in action at 8:30 p.m. Saturday against Grambling State in the Reynolds Center.
