Students from Catoosa High School, Claremore High School, and Owasso Public Schools will compete in a robotics tournament against teams from across the region Saturday.

Sixty-two high school robotics teams from Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri will take part in a series of challenges using robots designed and built by the students.

"This tournament provides kids with an engaging hands-on learning experience that promotes a passion for science and technology – instilling in them an appreciation for the field and an enthusiasm to pursue STEM-related education and careers."

The top-finishing middle school and high school teams will qualify for the 2012 World Championships next April in Anaheim, California, as well as the U.S. Championship in Omaha, Nebraska next March.

The competition is open to the public and will be held at Sequoyah School's The Place Where They Play Activity Center in Tahlequah.
