The storm system is now well east of the state but the temperatures have dropped into the teens this morning across northern OK due to dry air, clear sky, and light winds. We haven't experienced these temperatures since last February. It's hard to imagine that four months ago readings were over 100 degrees across the state!
The upper air pattern will be from the northwest through Friday and then from the west to east over the weekend. The main vortex is centered near the Hudson Bay area and a few waves will circulate around this feature over the next 24 to 36 hours. This means another cold front will ooze into the state late Thursday night into Friday morning bringing another shot of cold air to the area. I don't think we'll see any precip threat with the Friday system and I have not included any mention of snow flurries with this system.
There will be some light precipitation potential across part of central Kansas or Nebraska, but this should remain well to our north.
Temperatures will move into the mid 40s today and near 50 Thursday before cooling back down into the upper 30s Friday with north winds behind the boundary.
The weekend looks mild but cool with morning lows in the 20s and highs in the upper 40s near 50.
We're seeing signs of a pattern change by early next week. The EURO and GFS ensembles hint of another west coast system developing that will move into the southwestern US around Tuesday to Wednesday. This could drive us into a more active period next week. This time of year, as you well know, can get interesting quickly.
