Outside of the morning fog that rolled into portions of Green Country this morning, Mother Nature gave us some gorgeous Turkey Day weather (along with yet ANOTHER 3.7 magnitude earthquake centered near Prague, OK)! Temperatures will remain above-normal through Saturday morning as southerly winds pump in some moisture and warmer temperatures in advance of our next weather-maker.

That means shoppers brave enough to head out on Black Friday won't have to brave bitterly cold temperatures. Those readings will range from the 40s at night to the upper 60s Friday afternoon. That's very tolerable for late November if you ask me! It's also great football weather for the TU/Houston game Friday midday outside of a gusty southerly wind.

Our rain chances will hold off until after dark on Friday as a cold front sweeps in from the northwest. Severe weather is not anticipated due to the lack of instability. We could still get some rumbles of thunder with heavy rain through Saturday morning with widespread half-inch rain totals. A brisk northerly wind accompanies the cooler air Saturday with temperatures remaining steady or slowly fall through the lower 50s and upper 40s. Needless to say, Friday may be the more pleasant shopping day for you!

Dry weather with some rises and dips in the temperatures are anticipated for much of next week. There is quite a bit of uncertainty as we close out the month of November with regards to several waves of upper-level energy moving through the country. Some computer models even cut off the low pressure systems, which can make weather predicting a nightmare as they wobble around!

To close out, one more thing to be thankful for: the drought is finally ENDING in parts of Oklahoma! Can you believe it? Abundant rainfall in eastern and southern Oklahoma earlier this week made a significant dent in the drought as shown in the map above. Northwestern Oklahoma now bears the worst of the drought, but the coverage of the worst drought category has been cut in half. This is the most drought improvement I've seen all season long. Hopefully this trend will continue with the rainfall this weekend!
