Editor's note: The Oklahoma Highway Patrol sent out an updated collision report Saturday afternoon correcting the driver's age to 16.

A teenage boy is dead after an early morning crash near Skiatook. The teen was one of four young people in an SUV that overturned on a curve at about 4 a.m. Saturday.

The teen has been identified as Shakota Ray Nichols, 16, of Skiatook. He was driving a1999 Toyota 4Runner.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say the Toyota was southbound on North 52nd West Avenue from 133rd Street North when the driver lost control. The SUV left the roadway, crashed through a fence and rolled, coming to rest in some trees.

Nichols was partially ejected from the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.

The three passengers, who ranged in age from 12 to 17, were not injured. The driver was the only occupant not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers list the cause of the wreck as inexperience. The driver was in apparently in normal condition at the time of the wreck, according to Trooper Mark Sparks.
