Hundreds Stand Watch In Support Of Fallen Oklahoma Soldier

Funeral services for Sergeant Gailey were Saturday afternoon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bartlesville.

Hundreds of citizens and Patriot Guard riders lined the streets of Bartlesville in support of Sergeant Christopher Gailey of the 45th Infantry Brigade. Gailey was killed November 1, 2011, in an IED explosion.

Funeral services for Sergeant Gailey were Saturday afternoon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bartlesville.

Sergeant Gailey, an Ochelata native, joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 2005.

He served seven years, deployed to Iraq in 2007 and was on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. Gailey worked as a motor vehicle operator. Friends say he was outgoing and always had a smile on his face.

He was to be buried in Ochelata following the service.

Patriot Guard motorcyclists met at a local grocery store parking lot then rolled out to pay tribute to the fallen soldier.

Citizens from small children to seniors also stood watch, waving flags as the funeral procession traveled to the church.
