Crop Of New Tulsa City Councilors Voted Into Office

With only one incumbent Tulsa City Councilor on the ballot at Tuesday's municipal election, big changes are in store for Tulsa City Government.

At least seven of the city councilors will be new, after four incumbents lost their primaries and three didn't run.

In District 2, Republican Jeannie Cue beat out Democrat Phillip Oyler with 68.8 percent of the vote.

Republican David Bell lost to Democrat David Patrick in District 3. Patrick received 53.3 percent of the vote.

In District 4, Blake Ewing, the Republican candidate,  beat out Kenneth Brune who headed the Democratic ticket. Ewing received 56.7 percent of the vote.

Republican Byron Steele won the District 6 seat against Democrat Robert Gwin Jr. Steele received 76.5 percent of the vote.

Tom Mansur, a Republican, running against Democrat Michael Rainwater won the District 7 vote. Mansur got 74.2 percent of the vote.

Democrat William Suliburk lost to Republican Phil Lakin in District 8. Lakin got 75.4 percent of the vote.

The only incumbent in the race managed to keep his District 9 seat. Republican G.T. Bynum won against Democrat Mike Batman. He received 80 percent  of the vote.
