BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- Some Broken Arrow elementary students are giving back to the community.
Students at Country Lane Elementary collected nearly 2,000 new and gently used books to send to kids in Joplin. Their school was destroyed by that devastating tornado last spring.
School leaders say the book drive helps them teach students a very important life lesson.
"These are things that children parted with so other children could have the joy of reading and that is just tremendous to me," said Diane Hylton, Country Lane Media Specialist.
The school says the books will be delivered to Joplin by the end of the month.
