TULSA, Oklahoma -- Senior citizens are now signing up to be part of a senior living center to break ground next year in North Tulsa.
"The idea of being transitioned to a place like this where everything is inclusive, I just love it!" said Georgia Jones, Tulsa resident.
The Tulsa North Community Development Corporation is behind the $20 million facility for the 62 and up crowd.
It will be located on East Latimer between Boston and Main and funding by private investors is in place.
The plans call for 160 apartments for rent, as well as a grocery store, doctor's office, restaurant and other retailers.
"We've only been doing it for a few days actually and we're already close to almost 100 people already, so there is a need," said Twyla Brown with the Tulsa North Community Development Corporation.
The apartment units will be one or two bedrooms.
Organizers say the facility will also be all green. It will be built on about 2 and ½ acres with a groundbreaking set for some time in the second quarter of 2012.
For more information call 918-425-4357 or you can also sign up in person at Greenwood Christian Center at 1519 West Pine on Sunday, November 6, 2011.
