PRYOR, Oklahoma -- A Mayes County jury handed down a guilty verdict Tuesday in the first degree murder trial of a woman charged in the death of her husband in 2009.
Wendy Cobb's trial began last week, and the case was in the hands of the jury at around noon Tuesday. The jury took only three hours to deliberate.
Michael Cobb was killed in April 2009. He was beaten then dragged inside his home which was then set on fire.
"He was the most gentle. I've had five children and I love all of them, but Michael was the special one that kept the family together," said the victim's mother Eva Ussery.

Wendy's ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Shires, testified for the state last week, telling the jury he killed Mike Cobb because Wendy Cobb wanted her husband dead and was willing to pay.
For his part in the murder, Shires will serve 22 years in prison after agreeing to testify against Wendy Cobb.
After the verdict was read, family members of Mike Cobb hugged and consoled one another and cried tears of joy.
Mr. Cobb's family are pleased with the verdict but realize they have a tough road ahead.
"I'm happy, but then again it's not closure, " said Megan Baker, victim's daughter.
"We're just glad that it's over with and she got what she deserves," Eva Ussery said.
"Why would you do that to a good father, a good man, a good daddy, a good brother, a good son? Everything about Michael Cobb was good," said Tina Gray, Victim's Sister.
Wendy Cobb's sentencing is scheduled for December 21, 2011. Tuesday, the jury recommended she receive a life sentence.
