TULSA, Oklahoma -- A young woman drove through Woodward Park, wrecking her jeep into the pond near 21st and Peoria at about 10:30 Saturday night.
Witnesses say the woman was stopped at the light at 21st and Peoria just before the wreck.
"Evidence at the scene shows she slowly drifted through the intersection, up over the curb on the southeast corner of the intersection and rolled through the park until she came to a stop inside the water," said Tulsa Police Sergeant Thomas Bell.
The jeep was partially submerged when it stopped, he said.
Emergency crews freed the woman from the vehicle, and she was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Officers had not yet determined whether the collision was due to a medical condition or was possibly alcohol related, Bell told News On 6.
Bell noted that the pond is several hundred feet into the large Tulsa park.
"She managed to miss a large statue, several trees and miraculously didn't come into contact with anything in the park that could have been resulting in a more serious collision," he said.
