TULSA , Oklahoma – East Central junior Stanvon Taylor broke his ankle in Thursday's season opener against Stillwater.
Cardinals head coach Travis Hill confirmed the injury Friday morning after seeing the x-rays himself.
Coach Hill said Taylor's condition will be evaluated and that by the end of the day, they expect to know the extent of his injury.
"We are hoping for the best," said Hill. "The evaluation will determine if it's a bad thing, or a semi bad thing."
Hill said he does not know the length of time that Taylor could miss.
During Thursday's game, Taylor intercepted one of Stillwater's passes and returned the interception 67 yards for the East Central touchdown.
The Cardinals held off the late game surge by Stillwater to walk away with the 27-21 win over the Pioneers.
