TULSA, Oklahoma -- QuikTrip is expanding into South and North Carolina. The Tulsa-based convenience store chain is also looking to either expand or rebuild older stores in Dallas, Des Moines, Omaha, Atlanta and Tucson.
With that growth comes more jobs.
"If we do what we think we should do, the growth will be pretty phenomenal, pretty quick," Mike Thornbrough, QuikTrip spokesman told KRMG Radio. "Based upon what we're currently doing, within hopefully a year maybe 300 to 400 jobs."
Thornbrough says they are also seeing growth in the Tulsa area as the company relocates some Tulsa stores or builds new stores on existing sites.
The convenience store opened its first Tulsa store September 25, 1958.
In 2008, QuikTrip celebrated 50 years by the opening of its 500th store. It now has over 10,000 employees.
