TULSA, Oklahoma -- With school starting on Monday, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane officially closed fall camp Saturday with an 83-play scrimmage.
"We got a lot of work done and that is what we wanted to do. This will be our last full scrimmage that we need to get into," head coach Bill Blankenship said. "I thought overall our first unit did very well defensively. We gave up a couple of plays, but other than that, I thought they bowed their neck and played very well."
Tulsa has two more weeks of preparation before its season opener, a big matchup against the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners. The big season opener helped the Golden Hurricane team focus during a long fall camp.
"Any time you have a No. 1 team on your schedule to start it out you're going to be focused," G.J. Kinne said. "I think we're going to be focus regardless. They have a great team and we're ready to get out there."
