TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts University women's basketball team announced the 2011-12 schedule Monday.
"We have a good mix of home games with Louisiana Tech, Missouri State and UALR, and if we can survive the first semester with a solid record, I believe this schedule could get us some national recognition," said head coach Jerry Finkbeiner, the two-time Summit League Coach of the Year.
The 31-game schedule opens with a pair of exhibition games at home against Evangel and Central Oklahoma on October 27 and November 7.
"I am excited for our fans to have some good games here at the Mabee Center, and we have other road games in North Texas, Tulsa, Arkansas and Kansas that are well-within driving distance as well," said Finkbeiner.
Conference play begins on Saturday, December 3 as the Golden Eagles host Southern Utah for a 2:05 p.m. tip.
Oral Roberts ORU is coming off a 23-11 season in 2010-11, including a run to the Sweet 16 of the WNIT and will try to defend its back-to-back Summit League regular season championships this year.
They return the two-time Summit League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in Kevi Luper, who became the first player in NCAA history to lead the nation in points (23.7) and steals (3.7) in the same season. Also returning is first team all-conference selection Jaci Bigham, second team all-conference selection Jordan Pyle, and Sixth Woman of the Year Savanna Buck.
