TULSA -- Some Green Country kids are taking Lego play to a whole new level. The Tulsa City-County Library System is using the popular building blocks to draw more kids into its summer reading program -- and it's working.

Eight kids are in the finals of the Great Lego Build Off in Tulsa. They must create something around the theme of the library's summer reading program, which is travel.

Selwyn Edwards built a library. "This is the upstairs, and that's a little robot that helps," he explained.

The only rule was that competitors have to build on the spot in 90 minutes.

Luke Fravel's monument design takes at least an hour -- thanks to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

"I wanted to do it because this is the first time I've really ever entered a Lego contest besides the fair, so I wanted to try it," Fravel said.

Everyone has their own technique, from recreating their masterpiece using a photo to talking through the process out loud, like 5-year-old Collin.

Fifteen-year-old David Duval is aiming high with a replica of downtown Tulsa. "I've been practicing making the people, which is actually the technique that master builders use when they build at Legoland."

He wants to be an engineer one day, but, today, he's hoping for a trophy -- made of Legos, of course.
