OWASSO, Oklahoma—The Owasso Rams baseball team is the new number one.

The Rams jumped from the No. 3 spot to the No. 1 ranking in this week’s Baseball America/ National High School Baseball Coaches Association Top 25.

Owasso competed in the San Diego Lions Tournament in Poway, Calif. and beat the No. 2 team, Edison High, of Huntington Beach, Calif. and went 3-1 on the weekend to improve its overall record to 26-1.

The previous No. 1, St. Francis High of Mountain View, Calif., won only one game on the weekend, going 1-3 at the Hard 9 National Classic in Anaheim. St. Francis fell to the No. 10 spot.

Owasso is paced bythe superior play ofsenior pitcher Dylan Bundy and the Rams have not lost to an in-state opponent this season.

But Owasso isn’t the only Oklahoma team in the national rankings as rival Broken Arrow also sits at No. 8, after dropping from its previous ranking of fifth after losing to Edmond Santa Fe 6-5 on Saturday.

This week’s poll adds three new teams that were previously not ranked, with Bishop Amat from La. Puente, Calif. all the way at the No. 15 spot. One of the most notable shifts was the previous No. 8 team, Farragut HS from Knoxville who fell out of the rankings.

The Rams take the home field Tuesday to face Sapulpa at 7 p.m.
