OKLAHOMA CITY -- After leading the Lady Irish to their first girl’s basketball state championship in school history, Bishop McGuinness head coach Jennifer Burch announced that she was stepping down Monday.
“[Burch] did a great job and brought our program to prominence,” Bishop McGuinness athletic director Gary Savely said Monday. “I’ve known her since grade school; we’re going to miss her.”
During the 2010-2011 season, Burch led the Irish to a 27-2 record, including an eight-point win over East Central in the state championship game.
Burch made the decision to step down from her post in order to concentrate on her family, with plans to move to Shawnee, Okla. to be with her husband, who teaches at Bethel High School.
