OWASSO, Oklahoma – Owasso High School is hosting the Nike/Pro Nine Classic Baseball Tournament this week. The tournament brings together some of the best teams from Oklahoma and the rest of the region.
On Tuesday afternoon, Owasso opened the tournament with a 17-3 win over Joplin (MO). Then, shortly after that game, they were back on the field against Jenks.
Dylan Bundy was on the mound for the Rams. And he put on a show for all the MLB scouts and fans in the stands.
Bundy was simply dominant on the mound. He struck out the first 7 Jenks batters of the game and did it very efficiently. In the 1st inning, he struck out the side on 9 pitches. Then, in the 2nd, he struck out the side again, this time on 10 pitches. Bundy ended up striking out 12 of the 16 batters he faced.
He took a perfect game into the 5th inning, but that was broken up when Tom Hightower slapped a single to right. But that was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect day for Bundy.
Offensively, Owasso looked good. As a team, they hit 5 home runs. Cory Taylor hit 2 home runs and Bundy, Drew Stiner, and Andrew Rosa each hit 1.
And all of that was more than enough as the Rams beat the Trojans 12-0 in 5 innings.
The tournament continues on Wednesday with 4 more games. Jenks will play at 10 AM when they take on Roff. And Owasso will be back on the field at 7:30 PM when they play Silo.
