Lady Comets, Ropers Cruise In First Round of 5A Playoffs
Bishop Kelley and Will Rogers girls will meet in the 5A regional finals after big wins Thursday night.

TULSA, Oklahoma – The Bishop Kelley Lady Comets used a huge second quarter spurt to put the Tahlequah Lady Tigers away, 67-34 Thursday night. The win moves the Comets on in the girl’s 5A state playoffs.
Leading 11-7 after the first quarter, the Lady Comets turned it on. Bishop Kelley exploded for a 11-0 run to start the second quarter. Madi Susmilch and Katie Smith combined for 14 first half points and the Lady Comets led by 14 at the break.
The Lady Tigers didn’t get much scoring from its best players. Gentry Blankenship, the team’s senior leader, scored just two points in the first half and missed both of her free throw tries. Casey Beaston led the team into the locker room with three points.
Susmilch and Seana Stoia both scored 10 points apiece to the lead the Lady Comets. Randee Odonnell and Lucy Medlock each scored 8 points to pace the Lady Tigers.
Bishop Kelley built a big enough lead that it didn’t have to worry in the second half. The Lady Comets advanced to the 1:30 pm game Saturday at Rogers High School against Rogers.
The Lady Ropers advanced to the second round with a 64-36 win over Oklahoma City Southeast. Jordan Doyle scored 17 points in the win. Adeshola Adebayo scored 18 points for Southeast.
