TULSA, Oklahoma – Drew Craig may not immediately come to mind when you think of the top 5 players in the Green Country Conference, but consider this: Edison senior Steven Hamilton, unquestionably one of the best players in the area last year, torn his ACL in the first game of the season this year.

“With [Hamilton] gone, there’s a big gap, scoring-wise, on our team,” Craig said. “A lot of players, actually, had to step up and fill that hole.”
“I couldn’t be prouder of our young men,” Edison head coach Michael Parish explained. “They’ve never made an excuse all year long; they’ve come in and worked hard.”

The 6’ 7” senior center from Edison has especially had to step up, and he’s averaging nearly 10 points and 10 boards per game. But you have to look beyond the paper to see his true value.

“You know, he’s starting our fast break with outlet passes,” Parish said. “He’s patrolling the lane to prevent easy baskets; a lot of things that just don’t show up [on paper].”

The highest profile school that is currently pursuing Craig is the Naval Academy, and Edison’s big man knows he needs to get better.

“I feel very confident in myself,” said Craig. “At the same time, I still have that hunger to get better. You know, I‘m not nearly satisfied with my game. I’m confident, but still looking to be as big of an impact as I can.”

Our Top 5 series will conclude with a player from 5A #1 Booker T Washington.
