OKLAHOMA CITY – In honor of legendary Oklahoma high school coach Mike Little, the stadiums at Putnam City, Bethany and Yukon high schools will turn on the lights of their football stadiums Friday night.

Little passed away on Jan. 28 at the age of 68, and his funeral was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. The service was originally scheduled on Wednesday, but had to be pushed back because of poor weather conditions.

Little won state titles at Putnam City West and Putnam City North, and led Yukon to a 9-1 record in his first season at the school after the Millers were winless the year before. He coached for 23 years and won 68 percent of his games.

In his honor, the Friends of PC West Foundation also had established the Mike Little Scholarship Fund, which will provide an annual scholarship to a PC West football player.

The stadium lights at Putnam City, Bethany and Yukon will all be turned on between 7 and 8 p.m., and if you would like to donate to the Mike Little Scholarship Fund you may call (405) 314-5380.
