Southeast Recovers to Defeat Choctaw
The Spartans hold off the Yellowjackets to finish third in the Shawnee Shootout.

SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -- The Southeast Spartans rallied to defeat Choctaw Monday 60-51 in the third place game at the Shawnee Shootout.
The Spartans opened up a seven-point advantage after the first quarter.
The Jackets chipped away at the Spartans’ lead in the second quarter. Choctaw’s Deonta Samilton connected on a three-pointer before halftime to cut the deficit to four.
Southeast pushed their lead back up to six with a three-point shot from William Brewer, but Choctaw wouldn’t let up in the second half. A Samilton layup in the third quarter tied the game at 36-36 and the Jackets jumped in front, leading 43-40 heading into the fourth quarter.
The game was tied at 49-49 with less than two minutes left, when Brewer nailed another three-pointer, which gave the Spartans the lead for good. The Spartans outscored Choctaw 20-8 in the final frame.
Senior Rashawn Thomas paced the Spartans in the scoring department with 22 points, Brewer added 15. Samilton was the high-scorer for the yellowjackets finishing with 21 points.
