OKLAHOMA CITY -- Just days after Josh Turner took an official visit to the University of Texas, Longhorns’ head coach Mack Brown and defensive backs coach Jerry Gray were at Millwood High School Monday for a visit.
Turner was preparing for a basketball tournament and wasn’t at the school. Brown and Gray spent time with Millwood coaches and coordinators on the Millwood campus Monday.
“It’s an honor,” Turner said. “For Coach Brown to leave Texas [and come to visit] is just great.”
Despite the coaching changes at Texas, Turner says he never wavered on his commitment to the Longhorns and reaffirmed his status as a future Longhorn.
“It wasn’t the coaches that drew me to Texas, it was Texas as a whole,” Turner said. “The program is decent and I like it out there.”
One of his hosts for his official visit is a name familiar to Oklahoman’s, former Tulsa Central star Demarco Cobbs. The former Braves’ standout was an influence on this year’s top recruit.
“I actually met him at the spring game when I went down [to Austin],” Turner said. “He actually influenced [my decision] a lot.”
