TULSA, Oklahoma – Over the last week, there’s been good news and bad news for new Tulsa football coach Bill Blankenship.
The good news is that he’s been able to keep several recruits who had previously committed to play at Tulsa for Todd Graham. Garrett Gladd, Gary Owens, and Brentom Todd are just a few of the players who will be playing for the Golden Hurricane next year.
However, there’s also some bad news for Blankenship. One of Tulsa’s top recruits this year is Jakeem Grant, a wide receiver from Mesquite (TX) Horn high school. Grant had committed to Tulsa in July. But, with all the coaching changes TU has undergone this month, Grant has taken a second look at his choices.
He visited Texas Tech over the weekend. And on Tuesday, Oklahoma Sports received an email from Grant’s high school coach that said, “Jakeem decommitted from Tulsa. He committed to Texas Tech [on] Sunday morning.”
Tulsa still has 19 recruits that have committed to the school. Oklahoma Sports is still working on tracking down the rest of the recruits, and we’ll have updates as we get them.
