SKIATOOK, Oklahoma – The Bartlesville Bruins are still undefeated, but it took a near-miracle finish to beat Southmoore 50-49 at the Skiatook Invitational.
On Friday night, with his team down 49-44 with about 10 seconds left, Bruin seniorKolin Tribblesunk two three-pointers in the closing seconds to pull out the victory. AfterTribble hit his first three to make it 49-47, the Southmoore Sabercats just had to inbound the ball and the Bruins would have sent them to the free-throw line. Instead, the inbounds pass got knocked around and eventually deflected off of Sabercat Tilford Thornton’s foot to give the ball back to Bartlesville.
Tribble then proceeded to hit the game-winning three with 0.7 seconds left. After a timeout, the officials put 1.9 seconds on the clock but the Sabercats were unable to hit the desperation shot to win the game.
Tilford Thornton finished the game with 19 points for Southmoore, while Bartlesville’s Demarco Hudson finished the contest with 16.
The Bruins will play in the Invitational’s championship game on Saturday at 8:30 p.m., while Southmoore will play for 3rd place at 5:30 pm on Saturday.
