Class C Semifinal Preview

Semi-final play is upon us and although it finally feels like football weather outside, the matchups will be heated on thefield. By the end of the night Friday the field will be narrowed to two teams with just one week before the big game for the Gold Ball.

Below is some insight into the two Class C semi-final games facing off on Friday.

Forgan vs. Deer Creek-Lamont The Forgan Bulldogs enter the game with and 11-1 record and they have five consecutive wins under their belt.Since their loss in the regular season, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents by a total of 230-30 and outscored their first two playoff opponents 90-6.

Meanwhile, Deer Creek-Lamont is undefeated at 11-0 on the season and they have outscored their last five opponents 222-72.

One of the most interesting factors in this game is that these two teams have met before, and the victory was marginal as Forgan’s only loss of the season came against Deer Creek-Lamont in week seven by a final of 42-8.

Forgan is averaging 305.6 rushing yards per game and 65.3 through the air. The Bulldogs also average 36.8 points per game so far this year.

Deer Creek-Lamont’s numbers aren’t much different. They are averaging 293 rushing yards and 89.2 passing yards so far this season.

This game will be tight, but you can expect both teams to lay it all on the field especially since both teams lost in this round of play one season ago.

Covington-Douglas vs. Shattuck The Covington-Douglas Wildcats have pushed their way to an 11-1 record on the season thus far and don’t plan on stopping now.

The Wildcats only loss came in week 10 but they have not wavered since. Despite only winning by four points in the second round, this team will be ready to go come Friday. The Wildcats are averaging 96.1 yards passing and 297.7 rushing yards per contest along with an impressive 47.2 points per game.
Shattuck comes into this game with a 10-1 record and momentum from a 46-0 shutout of Maud in round two.

Both of these teams lost by the semi-finals of last season’s playoffs and have that extra motivation to make it to the championship game this year.

As always, all the marbles are on the line in this game, as the winner plays for the gold ball one week from Friday.

Both teams have a chip of their shoulder and will lay it all on the field to advance to the gold ball game.
