LAWTON, Oklahoma – The MacArthur Highlanders attacked.
And they kept attacking. Lawton MacArthur dominated McAlester on on both sides of the ball in a 48-8 win Saturday. The Highlanders defense smothered McAlester's top-ranked passing offense and scored at will. MacArthur led 38-0 at halftime.
Darius Graham started the scoring with a three yard touchdown run. MacArthur quarterback Dylan Warner was near perfect, he found Rashaud Foreman for a 50 yard catch and run. Warner was effective running the ball but did most of his damage through the air. Warner's touchdown pass to Darius Brewer made it 31-0 in the second quarter.
MacArthur took its foot off the gas in the second half, cruising to a 40 point win. MacArthur coach Brent Manning couldn't ask for a better performance.
"(McAlester) had a few things go wrong for them and we were able to capitalize," Manning said. "Really proud of our kids for how hard we played."
MacArthur will face Tulsa East Central Friday with state finals birth on the line.
"I'm extremely happy to be this far," Warner said. "I want to keep winning.
