OKLAHOMA CITY—The Westmoore Lady Jaguars, led by one lone senior, are building upon the experience gamed on the court last year to jump start their season.
“Our conference, night in and night out it’s a tough game, but I think you will see that Westmoore is going to be a lot more competitive this year,” said head coach Andrea Guziec.
Although they went 3-19 last season, the one junior and couple of sophomores that are now a couple juniors and a senior really learned about having confidence on the court thanks to last season.
We’ve got “a lot more confidence; last year was interesting and was very tough, but I think this year will do a lot better and I am excited,” said senior Brooke Hagemann.
Hagemann, the only senior on the team, averaged 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest last year. This year she is already on the preseason honorable mention list.
Led by Coach Guziec, who begins her fourth year with the program, the Lady Jaguars want to push the ball and get up and down the court quicker, while also becoming more physical inside the post.
Guziec says the team’s strength comes in their team play and how well they gel together. Coach’s goal for the team is to walk away from games with double digit wins each night.
