OKLAHOMA CITY—The Walters girls basketball team isn’t shy about their expectations at another run to the playoffs.
After finishing at 18-7 on the season last year, the Blue Devils will use their four returning starters and team chemistry to help them through their tough conference.
Head Coach Sam Hale starts his sixth season with Walters and he says the expectations are high for this year’s squad but that it helps that they have played together for a number of years and understand how to play together.
Olivia Potter paces the scoring for the Blue Devils from last season with 11.5 points per game along with an average of 2.7 steals per ballgame.
She will be assisted by fellow senior Jessica Spense and sophomores Madisyn Abbe and Haley High.
Coach Hale says that most of these girls have been coming to the high school basketball practices since they were in seventh grade which has given them confidence in their playing abilities. Hale says this squad really benefits from their good senior leadership and the play of the sophomores.
“I think we have the talent and the drive to do it and if we keep our head up, I think we can go pretty far, we’ve just got to play with our heart,” said High.
