TULSA, Oklahoma – The Sallisaw Black Diamonds finished the regular season strong Thursday night, beating Webster 34-6. The Black Diamonds won 7 out of 8 games to end the year and enter the playoffs with the second seed from 4A-District 4.
The boys in black and orange hit Webster hard with the running game early and often. On the team’s first possession, Jeromy Davenport scored on a 10-yard run to give Sallisaw a 7-0 lead. Later in the first quarter, standing on his own 20 yard line, Davenport squeezed through the line of scrimmage for a 60 yard run. That set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Garrett Gladd.
Sallisaw led 14-0 after one quarter and cruised to an easy win. Since starting 0-2, the Black Diamonds have outscored their opponents 249-89.
The Warriors finish the season with a 2-8 record. The Black Diamonds will host the third seed from 4A-District 3 in the first round of the playoffs.
