Week four for the Southwest Christian Eagles wasn’t only a win, italso featured an unforgettable play.
On Sept. 30 the Eagles took on Destiny Christian, and just a few plays into the game, Southwest Christian got the scoring started.
The Eagles lined up for the fourth and nine play at the 47 yard line and the ball was snapped, but it went high, flying over quarterback Jon Vanover’s head. He quickly turned and scrambled to the ball that landed nearly 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
By the time he corralled the ball he started his run at the 13 yard line. Vanover then began to maneuver his way in the right direction. After nearly being tripped by a defender,he wiggles free, and as you can see, from there it was off to the races.
That 87-yard touchdown run put the Eagles up 7-0 against Destiny and started the momentum in the game that ended with Southwest Christian winning 67-18.
Jon Vanover went 6-12 with three touchdowns, but don't get him confused with his twin brother Jordan Vanover, who also scored a touchdown in the Eagles win.
Regardless of if you were a player or spectator, coach or parent, the play was unusual and the win exciting.
