SAPULPA, Oklahoma – The Norman Tigers kept their undefeated record intact with a 38-7 victory over Sapulpa on Friday night.
The Tigers struggled early and a fumble by Jamie Meyers set Sapulpa up deep in Norman territory. The Chieftains missed a golden opportunity to jump out in front, though. On 3rd and goal, Levi Pickering was stuffed on a nice open field tackle by Kyle Carter. Brody Moses barely missed a field goal attempt and the Chieftains came away empty-handed.
The Sapulpa coaching staff tried to light a spark on the next drive with a hook-and-ladder play, but the Chieftains fumbled and Norman recovered. A few plays later, Donovan Roberts cashed in on a short run up the middle and the Tigers led 7-0.
Norman poured it on from that point and cruised to its fourth victory of the season. The Tigers host Shawnee next week, while the Chieftains travel down the turnpike to face Southmoore.
