TULSA, Oklahoma – East Central junior quarterback John McDavid threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter to help the Cardinals smash the Edison Eagles 59-0 Friday night. East Central overcame six penalties in the quarter to rout their cross-town rivals.
McDavid opened the scoring with a 19-yard strike to Dino Teague on the Cardinals’ first possession of the night. The duo hooked up for another score on their next possession when Teague collected a tipped pass near midfield and bolted 61 yards for the score.
Edison never found a rhythm on offense against the Cardinals. Quarterback Kiefner Lewis was hassled all game long and turned the ball over.
The Cardinals have shut out the Eagles three times in the team’s past five meetings, and outscored Edison 196-20. East Central (3-1) will host Coweta on October 1st.
After winning its season opener, Edison (1-3) has dropped the last three games. The Eagles have lost 14 of their last 15 games dating back to 2008. They will travel to Claremore next week.
