NORMAN, Oklahoma – Norman high school students stormed Asp Avenue on the University of Oklahoma campus Saturday to help raise cancer awareness.
The students successfully pulled off a “flashmob” in front of the Memorial Student Union before OU’s kickoff against Florida State.
A “flashmob” is defined as a surprise performance coming out of a crowd. The one on the OU campus Saturday featured 200 students dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”
The dance was designed to go along with Win-Win Week. This week students around the state were asked to create cancer prevention and awareness programs.
The Norman students went around with buckets after the flashmob asking for donations. The money raised will help support Oklahoma cancer patients at the OU Cancer Institute.
