OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Heritage Hall Chargers defeated Clinton Friday 37-17 behind the play of Barry Sanders.

Sanders finished with one rushing and one receiving touchdown.

The Chargers hit the scoreboard first when Cooper Cloud hit Sanders in stride for a 31 yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. Sanders extended the Chargers lead to 14-0 with a 48 yard td run in the first quarter.

Clinton capitalized on a long kickoff return, and running back Saul Pina punched it in from the two yard to cut the Chargers’ lead to 14-7.

Heritage Hall responded in the first quarter thanks to a gadget play on 3rd and long. Sterling Shephard appeared to be in punt formation, but aired it out instead and connected with Cooper Cloud on a 55-yard touchdown pass. Heritage Hall took a 21-7 lead into the second quarter.

Clinton finished the second quarter by scoring 10 straight points. The Red Tornadoes kicked a field goal late in the first half to cut the Chargers’ lead to 24-17.

After a scoreless third quarter, Heritage Hall scored two late 4th quarter touchdowns to put the game away.
